I teach my students to see the world differently. Combine this new perspective with a strong understanding of design principles and photographic magic happens. This is my approach to teaching and where I invite you to begin your journey.
I’m tremendously passionate about my role as a photographer and educator! My photography career began in the darkroom in 2003 and has since grown into my current commercial photography business. Since 2005, I’ve been teaching photography in a variety of formats. I tailor my lessons to how my students learn best—whether that’s in the classroom, one-on-one, or online. After moving to Denver in 2016, I became an instructor at the Denver Botanic Gardens and Tagawa Garden Center. My classes cover a broad range of topics, including traditional DSLR photography, image management, photo editing, and the art of smartphone photography.

I feel that I have been through a metamorphosis…. when I came to Jeanette's program I was an absolute beginner with no real knowledge of photography. With Jeanette's instruction I take photos with confidence and understand that the eye needs to look for such things as composition, lighting, color and exposure. For me with skills and ability comes a love of photography and has helped me to pay more attention to the everyday life around me. I am taking more photos than ever and I appreciate the important role they play in making a creative and happy life.
.... Jeanette has enormous patience, is an excellent communicator, and teaches in a way that makes you want to grab your camera and start shooting. I just can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to the next lesson!

Early on, Jeanette is the person who helped me convert from film to digital format and provided guidance on equipment selection as well as technique. I could always call her for help, questions, and advice on my photography. Jeanette is an accomplished professional photographer and a great teacher, making her classes FUN. All of her students hated to see her move away from us here in Virginia.
